Following the arrest and death of Ms Mahsa Jina Amini in Iran on 16 September 2022, a spontaneous grassroots movement sprang up around the world under the slogan « Woman Life Freedom ».
In France, as in other countries, many people from all walks of life – human rights activists, lawyers, businessmen, artists, doctors, students and journalists …. – wanted to take part by lending their support to this popular movement, which has gradually turned into a revolutionary movement in Iran.
It is important to remember that NOROUZ is not affiliated to any political and/or religious movement. It is strictly independent.
It may also join other NGOs, unions or groups.
The members of the NOROUZ, who are particularly sensitive to respect for human rights and gender equality and, more broadly, to universal humanist principles, wanted to come together in a number of informal groups to raise awareness among the general public and the French media of the factual reality in Iran and to give a voice to activists, lawyers, students and, more broadly, the Iranian population whose access to social networks and, more broadly, to the Internet, is severely restricted by the authorities of the Islamic Republic.
Without any political or religious connotations, the members of the NOROUZ wish to make the most of their expertise and contacts in order, in particular, to support this historic movement and to participate through their actions in the democratic transition of IRAN with a view to respecting the universal human rights to which the Iranian people aspire.

Norouz has a very strict apolitical approach to ensure that the objectives set out in its articles of association can be achieved by all its members, regardless of their religious and political views, as long as those views are compatible with the universal values of human rights.
